Peter Dakin Director

Peter is an Associate of the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC).

He established Dakin Management Group following several successful years as a Partner of Cruickshank Management Resources, a leading management consulting firm, subsequently merging with Marcia Silverman and Associates.

Peter's human resources expertise gained in executive recruitment, contracting and outplacement of middle to senior management, has enabled him to develop a sound understanding of a range of disciplines, including accounting, finance, information technology, sales, marketing, engineering, production and logistics. His established client base extends across several sectors - manufacturing, wholesaling and distribution, retail, telecommunications, financial services, not-for-profit and government.

Philip Mayers Associate Director

Philip has brought to Silverman Dakin valuable international experience in business, health, aged care, and the growing not-for-profit sectors. As a Human Resources professional for over 20 years, he has been involved in major recruitment and search assignments at CEO and senior management level.

A qualified solicitor, Philip attended London Business School and became a Director of a major South African company where his responsibilities encompassed legal counsel and human resources. He later served as Chief Executive Officer of one of Australia’s leading Human Services providers. Since 1990 he has specialised in executive search and recruitment and has assisted his clients in many strategically important appointments.

In addition to Executive Recruitment, Philip lectures in Human Resources at Victoria University and provides a broad range of HR consulting services to the not-for-profit sector.

Philip is a Board Director of both the Royal District Nursing Service and Make-A-Wish Foundation, and has chaired the Executive Recruitment Committee of the Recruitment and Consulting Services Association (RCSA). He is also the Coordinator of the Melbourne Alumni of both the London Business School and the University of the Witwatersrand.

David Wood Senior Consultant

David has an honours degree in Psychology and ten years experience working in the manufacturing and construction sectors in South Africa.  He commenced his career in the human resources profession working for Scaw Metals Group, the largest privately owned iron and steel works in the Southern Hemisphere. During this 8 year period, David was responsible for managing a broad range of services in a high pressure environment, attending to both HR and ER matters for up to 7200 employees at strategic and operational levels.

Subsequently David spent two years as Divisional HR Manager, working in the road construction industry with a large contracting firm that specialised in the construction of roads and other major civil infrastructure work.

With this significant experience, David was successful in establishing his own recruitment business a year prior to migrating to Australia early in 2001.

Since then, David has further extended his experience in executive recruitment within the technical and operations area in the automotive, petrochemical, food and packaging sectors. He has built strong networks in the pulp and paper manufacturing industry in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. His experience as a human resources generalist has also enabled him to operate successfully across other areas including sales and marketing, construction, accounting and finance.

Sophia Demos Senior Consultant

Sophia Demos completed her tertiary studies at the University of Melbourne in 1985 with double degree in Commerce and Arts. She commenced her career in human resources working for large corporations.

Having held management positions in the areas of service, sales and marketing she has returned to human resources with the benefit of 20 years experience.

Immediately before joining Silverman Dakin, Sophia spent seven years at BMW Group Australia as Brand Manager of their retail concept stores. Sophia pioneered and successfully developed the brand throughout Australia and overseas.

Sophia has a special interest in not-for-profits and brings a sound commercial focus to this important sector.

Her wealth of experience at senior management level, built upon strong foundations in human resources, enables Silverman Dakin to continue to provide a high level of service to their diverse clients.

Michelle Hewitt Senior Consultant

Approaching a decade in her recruitment career, Michelle joined Silverman Dakin in 2008 to focus on senior management roles within the Health, Not-for-profit and Business sectors.  Her experience includes a diverse range of assignments for large corporate clients and SME's across multiple industries including health, legal, accounting, property, financial services, insurance, FMCG, IT and pharmaceutical.

She joined the recruitment industry in Melbourne, initially focusing on temporary/contract recruitment.  She relocated to Dublin, Ireland and worked in agency recruitment for over four years managing permanent and contract assignments in the commercial sector, predominantly sales & marketing, business support, accounting and management.  For a period of twelve months whilst overseas, she managed assignments recruiting Registered Nurses for Hospitals and Aged Care facilities across Ireland, Scotland, Great Britain, Wales, Australia and New Zealand.

Michelle returned to Melbourne in 2005, working with a national recruitment firm as Senior Consultant.  She was promoted to Business Manager, being instrumental in growing their Business Support Division, and also managed more senior assignments in the Sales & Marketing and Financial Services sectors.
